Our Story
Raised in Hawaii, Carie Anderson embraces the beauty and ease of the islands. It’s no wonder that her products match this same easy-going, comfortable, and well-designed vibe.
Back in 2007, Carie started working on the Snuzi prototype, which would be Mālama Baby’s flagship product, as a self-taught seamstress. She took a year to perfect the Snuzi and launch the business. The idea of the Snuzi was inspired to solve a problem that she had been having while breastfeeding her baby. The issue: sweaty baby head and discomfort while holding her little angel.
Carie would go on to make more products after she launched Mālama Baby in 2008 and there’s no sign of stopping. In 2014, she left her job as a Lab Histocompatibility Technologist (specializing in organ transplant), with the support of her husband, to work on Mālama Baby full-time. She uses her business to support parents with more functional and comfortable products when raising their children, as well as capitalizing on the flexibility of entrepreneurship to spend more time with her own family.
Family is important and it’s at the heart of all Mālama Baby products.
Carie has three children, two boys and one girl, ranging from 8-15 years old. She is also a dog mom to Cooper, a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix and Shadow, a Shih Tzu/Terrier mix. She lives with her husband, kids, and pups in Kāne'ohe, on the beautiful, lush windward side of Oahu.
